GetRight

Opera/IE

GetRight® Opera Plugin in IE:

It seems that some versions of Internet Explorer import and copy the plugins from your Opera\Plugins directory. (And other versions of IE may just use the Opera plugins directly without copying them.) Which it really should not do for the GetRight/Opera Plugin.
This can cause odd errors (especially if GetRight is uninstalled) when clicking a file to download in Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 6.0 does "fix" this in an odd way--IE 6 no longer supports plugins at all (!) So IE 6 users won't have this problem.

To Fix:

You will need to delete the GetRight/Opera plugins from your IE "Plugins" folders on your computer and remove some registry settings. Follow the steps below to do this.
  1. Close any open web browser windows! And close all the other windows you can too.
Another headache is Internet Explorer can re-write some settings you'll delete below. All Internet Explorer windows must be closed, or Internet Explorer will just write the settings you delete back again.

  2. Open your web browser "Plugins" folder from My Computer or Windows Explorer. This folder usually is:
  3. C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins\

  4. Delete any NPGetRt1.DLL, NPGetRt2.DLL, and/or NPGetRt3.DLL files in both of those directories.
You may also want to search for those files on your computer in case they aren't in the locations above. Use the "Start" button, then "Find->Files or Folders" menu and search for those names.
If they are not there and you can't find them, just continue to the next steps.

  5. Pick the "Start" button in Windows, then the "Run..." menu item, then type in REGEDIT.EXE to run the registry editor program.

  6. It's a big tree of items, open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE one,
    then Software
    then Microsoft
    then Internet Explorer
    then Plugins
    then Extension

  7. Right click on .EXE item then pick Delete from the menu (if .EXE is there.)
Right click on .ZIP item then pick Delete from the menu (if .ZIP is there.)
Right click on .MP3 item then pick Delete from the menu (if .MP3 is there.)

  8. Reboot your computer. That should do it!

If it doesn't do it:
It seems other versions of IE just use the Opera plugins directly without copying them. Have not found a fix for this one except uninstalling the Opera plugins completely.

If you uninstall the Opera plugins (or just delete from the Opera/plugins directory), then start at step 4 above again.

You'll have to use one of the other methods to get downloads into GetRight...copying the URL to the clipboard, or opening the little drag-and-drop target window.
