GetRight vs. Lightning Download
GetRight is NOT going away. It gets lots of users and downloads--always in the top lists at Download.com. It will continue to be our main and more powerful product. There's even now a GetRight Pro that goes the other way and adds even more advanced features.
But there are competitors, several of which get lots of downloads. They don't do anything that GetRight can't do, and in many cases do far less. But they are more aggressive about accelerating/segmenting downloads and some other things. And some are very well-named products to get people to understand that it can accelerate and help download their files faster.
Car companies make dozens of models--all may have similar parts inside, but very different markets: station wagons vs sporty 2 door cars. Drink companies make regular and diet drinks. We decided to try the same.
Lightning Download is our variation on GetRight that focuses more on accelerating downloads. We removed and simplified many of the options to make it easier to use. We thought of a cool "fast" name: "Lightning Download". We re-worked the interface to look and work a little different based on the things I've learned since first starting GetRight.
